Born in Kufstein Austria, raised and educated in Munich Germany with emphasis in commerce and business management.
Immigrated to Canada, British Columbia in 1970, where he learned the building construction trade, operated a successful residential and commercial construction company and managed the family’s real estate investment firm with 200+ apartments.
In 1989 he was called to Spartanburg SC to assist with the expansion of the North-American division of family owned, world-renowned textile and carpet printing machinery manufacturer Zimmer, based in Austria. He is VP of customer service and manufacturing. Today the business has expanded and represents several European manufactures producing PET bottle recycling machinery and related equipment.
Gerald is also a licensed Realtor® assisting friends and family members.
Father of Jeremy Abele, his partner role in Family Windows and Doors is in a senior advisory position.
